Occurrence either of epileptic seizures or EEG interictal epileptiform abnormalities (IEA) has been investigated in a series of 39 subjects with REM Behaviour Disorder (RBD) (37 men; mean age 66.9 + 7.6 years). A co-existence of epileptic seizures was found in 13% of the cases while focal IEA occurred in 26% of the subjects with RBD without epileptic seizures. It has been stressed that such associations may lead clinicians to misdiagnosis and erroneous treatments.
