The diversity within Pleurotus has been creating a range of new potential applications with a profound biological and economical value. Pleurotus spp. are, in fact, becoming increasingly attractive for the development of functional food, nutraceuticals and new drugs, due to their potential antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiproliferative, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory and antihypertensive properties. About 200 species are currently accepted in this genus, but only a few of them such as P. florida, P. sajor-caju and P. ostreatus are available in the market. The genetic and metabolic diversity within Pleurotus is of main concern for many researchers. Most of the researches were conducted from a taxonomic point of view in order to clarify and disentangle and biochemical markers have been significantly contributing to these issues.

Abstract
Most of the researches were conducted from a taxonomic point of view in order to clarify and disentangle and biochemical markers have been significantly contributing to these issues.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
