A variety of filters topologies in air-filled substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology are reviewed and discussed in this paper. The complete or partial removal of the dielectric substrate in SIW cavities provides additional degrees of freedom, which are exploited to achieve the desired distribution of poles and zeros in the frequency response. A novel tunable filter topology is also presented and preliminarily validated with experimental results.

Abstract
