Centuries of canalization designed the Lombardy territory, providing it with waterways and commercial ports. In 1819, with the Naviglio Pavese, the waterway system was completed. The hydraulic infrastructures, which had qualified Pavia and the surrounding natural environments, lost their importance because of the faster railway. The contribution proposes to combine historical research with a digital study aimed at facilitating the knowledge and management of the hydraulic heritage of the canal.

Abstract
