The ichthyological collection of Menico Torchio at the Natural History Museum of the University of Pavia The zoological specimens of Menico Torchio have been included in the collections of the Natural History Museum of Pavia between 1996 and 2009. They are preserved in liquid and include mostly fishes and molluscs. They have been collected in the Ligurian sea where Torchio carried out many of his studies during the 1970s and 1980s. The recovery of these specimens consisted in the replacing of the preservative and eventually of the jar, scientific redetermination, addition of new tags and cataloguing. The collection consists of 200 jars, most of which (151) contain fishes. Among these, the most represented order is Pleuronectiformes (82 jar) with the family Bothidae (35) and Soleidae (31).
