The paper examines the marble statue of the so-called ‘Old Fisherman’, preserved at the Paolo Orsi Regional Archaeological Museum. The statue was found in the area of the Borgata Santa Lucia, in Via Sant’Agnese, partly corresponding to the ancient district of Achradina, in 1930, among the remains of a Roman domus of the imperial period. Starting from the census and comparative analysis of copies attributable to the same type (20 statues, torsos, heads, small bronze figurines), this paper provides the statue with a possible context of display and chronology, also considering the recent topographical studies of the area.

Abstract
The paper examines the marble statue of the so-called ‘Old Fisherman’, preserved at the Paolo Orsi Regional Archaeological Museum. The statue was found in the area of the Borgata Santa Lucia, in Via Sant’Agnese, partly corresponding to the ancient district of Achradina, in 1930, among the remains of a Roman domus of the imperial period. Starting from the census and comparative analysis of copies attributable to the same type (20 statues, torsos, heads, small bronze figurines), this paper provides the statue with a possible context of display and chronology, also considering the recent topographical studies of the area.File in questo prodotto:
