TThis paper presents a 24.8-27.2 GHz distributed oscillator suitable for clock generation and distribution in highspeed serial link transceivers. The oscillator is composed of four cores with explicit tail inductors for improved phase noise performance. In-phase coupling between adjacent cores is ensured through transmission lines, enabling an efficient signal distribution over long distances across the chip. The oscillator operation is analyzed adopting an intuitive model. Fabricated in 12 nm FinFET technology, the oscillator is distributed over a 1.9 mm distance, it shows a phase noise of ?122.7 dBc/Hz at 10 MHz offset from a 24.8 GHz carrier, and it dissipates 7.2 mW from a 0.8 V supply.
