Compact femtosecond Nd:glass lasers pumped by a single mode 200-mW laser diode are discussed. Different optical configurations for dispersion compensation are considered. Pulses as short as 80 fs have been abtained, with 10-20 mW output power which is more than enough for seeding ultrafast amplifiers.

Abstract

Compact femtosecond Nd:glass lasers pumped by a single mode 200-mW laser diode are discussed. Different optical configurations for dispersion compensation are considered.
