The paper presents SPH simulation results concerning water-induced periodic loads on the rigid wall of a tank subjected to a harmonic external forcing. Sensitivity analyses on the model were performed. Reference was made to the laboratory tests proposed as benchmark by Botia Vera et al.: experimental and numerical time-histories of hydrodynamic pressure at measurement points were compared, as well as flow visualizations at different times. A simple case of three-dimensional sloshing in a rectangular tank was finally investigated in order to assess the ability of the model to reproduce 3D wave patterns.

Abstract
The paper presents SPH simulation results concerning water-induced periodic loads on the rigid wall of a tank subjected to a harmonic external forcing. Sensitivity analyses on the model were performed. Reference was made to the laboratory tests proposed as benchmark by Botia Vera et al.: experimental and numerical time-histories of hydrodynamic pressure at measurement points were compared, as well as flow visualizations at different times. A simple case of three-dimensional sloshing in a rectangular tank was finally investigated in order to assess the ability of the model to reproduce 3D wave patterns.File in questo prodotto:
