This work describes an industrial visual inspection system. It has been designed for the detection of the defects occurring on zip fasteners during the production process. It turns out that this particular application can be treated inside the frame-work of the 'continuous stripes' (CS), whose definition is given. After the presentation of the theory about CS analysis, the description of the industrial system is reported and some examples are discussed. The performances of such a system are emphasized with respect to its cost.
