The design of a machine for the biomechanical analysis of the pedalling is described in this paper. The prototype design is divided into two parts: in the first, the whole lower limb–crank has been modelled by means of an elementary scheme consisting of an articulated system with rigid links. This elementary mechanical model is made of a five bar linkage and presents 2 d.o.f. for each leg. The second part consists in the development of a special measurement device that allows the kinematics and dynamics of the model to be solved.

Abstract
