SPH simulations of water-induced periodic impacts on the rigid wall of a tank subjected to a harmonic external forcing are shown. A sensitivity analysis on the model was performed. Reference was made to the laboratory tests proposed as benchmark by Botia Vera et al.: experimental and numerical time-histories of hydrodynamic pressure at measurement points were compared, as well as flow visualizations at different times. A simple case of three-dimensional sloshing in a rectangular tank was finally investigated in order to assess the ability of the model to reproduce 3D wave patterns in view of an application to seismic engineering problems.

Abstract
SPH simulations of water-induced periodic impacts on the rigid wall of a tank subjected to a harmonic external forcing are shown. A sensitivity analysis on the model was performed. Reference was made to the laboratory tests proposed as benchmark by Botia Vera et al.: experimental and numerical time-histories of hydrodynamic pressure at measurement points were compared, as well as flow visualizations at different times. A simple case of three-dimensional sloshing in a rectangular tank was finally investigated in order to assess the ability of the model to reproduce 3D wave patterns in view of an application to seismic engineering problems.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
