Mass spectral library searching performances of SISCOM, an interpretative method, are compared against two well known retrieval systems, INCOS and PBM. The results on examples of "dirty" direct inlet analysis and of GC-MS runs indicate that the performances are comparable when the compounds are in the data base, but when they are not present SISCOM is more helpful.
