Abstract

In this work, the electromagnetic field induced inside biological tissues by planewave exposure is numerically investigated. The results obtained on an anthropomorphic human body model were compared with those from a multilayer planar slab. The analysis focused on two anatomical districts, i.e., the wrist and the abdomen, whose corresponding multilayer slabs were built, and showed that, even with an accurately selected tissues sequence, the approximation of a simplified multilayer geometry was not able to fully reproduce the E-field distribution inside an extended anatomical region.
