Microwave medical imaging (MWI) systems based on radar are a non-ionizing alternative for breast cancer detection. In this work, a methodology for simulation time optimization is proposed through the use of a reduced number of frequency points and subsequent interpolation. To this end, the accuracy of the technique used is validated using an exhaustive statistical analysis (both in the time and frequency domains), demonstrating that it is possible to reduce simulation time without compromising the integrity of the image reconstruction obtained with image beamforming algorithms.
